In 1974, the College of Liberal Arts and School of Midwifery were established. On March 7, 1979, the Board of Medical Education of the Department of Education and Culture approved the formation of the Fatima college of Medicine. Since the existing regulations required that the College be under a foundation, the Fatima Medical Science Foundation was set up, separate and distinct from the Our Lady of Fatima Inc.-- the mother organization of the Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, Schools of Nursing and Midwifery, Physical Therapy & Respiratory Therapy, Occupational Therapy and B.S. Zoology. To respond to the growing medical student population, a moderm five-storey school was built in the school year 1979-1980. It was a fitting response to the government's school dispersal system to distribute medical schools throughout the country. 1994 and 2995 saw a series of expansion of school and hospital facilities to better serve the students and the community. as a matter of faction in 1998, the school developed a new campus at Fairview, Q.C. with an 8 storey school building for its grade school, high school and college department. |
